Susan C. Mulholland - President and Principal Investigator
Education: Susan C. Mulholland received a B.A. in Earth Sciences/Geology in 1976 from Bridgewater State College, Massachusetts. She went on to receive both her M.S. (1979) and Ph.D. (1987) from the University of Minnesota Ancient Studies (Interdisciplinary Archaeology) program. Susan specializes in phytolith analysis as well as prehistoric archaeology.
Experience and Qualifications: From 1987-2001 Susan was the Associate Director and Senior Scientist at the Archaeometry Laboratory, University of MN, Duluth. She also worked as an archaeologist (GS-9) at the Superior National Forest, Duluth, MN from 2001-2005. She has been an adjunct assistance professor at both the University of Minnesota, Minneapolis (1992-2001) and the University of Minnesota, Duluth (1990+). She has served as a senior affiliate member of the graduate faculty in Anthropology at the University of Minnesota, Minneapolis since 2005. She has been the President and Principal Investigator for DAC since 2000.
Fieldwork: Since 1987, Susan has served as the Principal Investigator (PI), Co-PI, and Project Director for various Phase I surveys, Phase II evaluations, and Phase III site mitigations in Minnesota, Wisconsin and North Dakota. She has also served as PI and Project Director for the St. Louis River Hydroelectric Project since 1990. This project includes Phase I, II, and III work, Cultural Resource Management Plans, curation, and site monitoring.
